Advocate's approach to excellence in diabetes and endocrinology
Advocate Health Care takes a whole-patient approach to diabetes care focusing on exercise, nutrition, and blood sugar control. Our mission is to avoid complications and improve quality of life for pediatric and adult patients through unique programs and specialty clinics.
Diabetes is one of the most common endocrine diseases, along with hypothyroidism and metabolic syndrome.
Advancing diabetes care
Advocate is taking the lead to improve the care of patients with diabetes. Through the combined efforts of Advocate Physician Partners, we are helping to establish the best methods for managing the disease and supporting a healthy lifestyle. As a patient, you benefit from our ongoing research and enhanced treatment programs. Recent results show that APP performed well above the national average on 8 of 9 measures of diabetic care.
As always, we want to be sure you receive the best possible care, education, and support in managing a chronic condition. Our Advocate Health Centers "Basics" program offers personalized nutrition and fitness plans plus educational support under the watch of your own physician.
We help children and families build essential self-management skills, including blood testing and insulin delivery via injections or pumps. Our health care team considers the psychological, social, and academic needs of children dealing with the challenges of a lifelong disorder.
