Thank you for your interest in our Family Medicine residency program. Listed below are the criteria.
The Department of Family Medicine at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge, Illinois, uses the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) software. The ERAS website, www.aamc.org/eras, contains all the information you need to get started with your ERAS application. Visit the site and click on the link for applicants (www.aamc.org/students/eras/start.htm).
- Recruitment season begins with the opening of ERAS on September 15, 2012
- Interviews begin in mid-October
- We do not offer externships or observerships
- Deadline for applying to our program is January 1, 2013
- Each application is reviewed and interviews are granted at the discretion of the Family Medicine Recruitment Committee
IF APPLICABLE
- Must pass the USMLE Part I with an average of 196 or above (if test taken prior to 2012) on your first attempt
- Must pass the USMLE Part II with an average of 196 or above (if test taken prior to 2012) on your first attempt
- Must pass the USMLE Part II with an average of 220 or above (if taken in 2012) on your first attempt
- Must pass the CSA exam in two attempts or less
- Must be a permanent resident or hold a green card, we do not offer Visa Sponsorships
- Must have good command of the English language
- Must have ECFMG certification prior to offering an interview
- Must have graduated from medical school within the past five years or be recently clinically active in the practice of medicine
- Graduated 2008 or after may apply
- If you graduated prior to 2008 you may apply, but you must prove continuous clinical involvement
- Research and observerships do not qualify as clinical involvement
- If you graduated prior to 2012, CME hours are required for licensure in the state of Illinois
- CME hours requirement is based upon year of graduation
- 2012 No CME hours required
- 2011 50 hours are required before interview
- 2010 100 hours are required before interview
- 2009, 2008 150 hours are required before interview
