Professional Leave

PURPOSE:

To clarify professional leave requirements and responsibilities.
|
|
POLICY:
|
|
Residents may use the "personal days", described in their benefits package, for educational activities outside the program.
|
Procedure
- Residents may, on occasion, choose to attend an educational activity outside the hospital.
- Such special and unique educational activities should be consistent with the goals and objectives of the resident's training program.
- The resident may request the three "personal days", which are part of the benefits package, for professional leave.
- The Program Director will evaluate the request and, as with all other time off, will be responsible for approving, or not approving, the request.
- This policy does not preclude each program from making additional time available to residents to attend outside conferences, if consistent with the goals of the educational program.
