Resident Impairment and Substance Abuse

PURPOSE:

To maintain Illinois Masonic Medical Center as a drug-free workplace and to provide resident physicians with assistance and referral to a program when necessary.
|
|
POLICY:
|
|
All residents will adhere to the Advocate System policies relating to a drug free workplace and fitness for duty.
|
Procedure
In keeping with the mandate of Advocate Health Systems, Illinois Masonic Medical Center has been established as a drugâ€'free workplace. It also has an obligation to protect patients, associates and residents personally from the effects of substance abuse. It is committed to a positive program of rehabilitation when a resident becomes impaired.
As an employed Associate of the Advocate Health System all residents are subject to the following policies:
Advocate System Policy # 90.013.007 Associate Fitness for Duty - Drug & Alcohol Abuse Advocate System Policy # 90.013.029 Associate Fitness for Duty - Behavior Advocate System Policy # 90.013.030 Employee Assistance Program
These policies will be reviewed with the resident at Orientation.
