Dr. Rabi Sulayman, M.D.
Welcome to the Department of Pediatrics at Advocate Christ Medical Center and Advocate Children’s Hospital - Oak Lawn. We are excited that you have chosen to pursue a career in pediatrics and thank you for taking the time to learn more about us. Advocate Children’s Hospital - Oak Lawn is the second busiest children’s hospital in the greater Chicago Metropolitan area with over seven thousand admissions per year. It is also the area’s leader in several subspecialties such as Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery, Hematology/Oncology, Endocrinology, Neurology, and Pulmonology. Our physicians are dedicated to provide excellence in care, utilizing evidence based medicine and best practice protocols, thus achieving some of the best outcomes and satisfaction scores in the nation. We are particularly proud of our International Program and the relationships we have established with many prominent children’s hospitals across the globe.
This commitment to clinical excellence and our global perspective of children’s health provide us the necessary base to provide you with exceptional educational opportunities leading to and maintaining Academic Excellence. It is this philosophy that distinguishes us from all the other residency programs.
Our faculty is engaged in education at the undergraduate, graduate, and post graduate levels as well as continuing medical education and allied health care professionals. Providing an extensive number of broad as well as focused educational activities and programs, has always been a priority. Most of our faculty members are also engaged in clinical research, clinical trials, and have started, this year, to become involved in translational and basic science research in collaboration with Rosalind Franklin University, Chicago Medical School. Needless to say, this offers our interested residents great opportunities to become involved in projects during their residency, and prepares them for further academic pursuits.
Our curriculum is in strict compliance with the RRC requirements and approved policies. It provides a smooth, free of stress transition from being a student to becoming an intern. The graduated level of increased responsibility while transitioning from one year into another is supported by the personal guidance of a dedicated group of pediatric faculty, pediatric hospitalists, and subspecialists. The carefully prepared and comprehensive rotation schedule provides an excellent exposure to the various pediatric disciplines including Ambulatory, Developmental, and Community programs. This provides the resident with a solid foundation to successfully pursue various career paths after graduating.
We are thankful to you, and the many excellent residents who have helped us through the years with their constructive suggestions and input to develop what we believe is the most exciting and unique residency program ever. We are also thankful to the excellent program leadership who have spent countless hours to ensure that the educational experience we provide is second to none.
We invite you to explore our website to learn more about our programs.
