Why I chose Advocate Lutheran General Hospital?
I choose ALGH because it gives me the opportunity to work directly with the attendings. With only 3 residents per year, you sort of get spoiled with attention. You also get a more diverse pt population than you would see in the inner city from demographics to pathology. Finally, with all the perks you receive from the Hospital and the program, life as a resident is actually pretty good.
What is it like being a resident here?
Is chillaxed a legal word to use here? The faculty ask questions to teach rather than in a cynical fashion. While working inpatient, you get enough work to make your day go by without feeling overwhelmed. You learn a lot while in hospital and say goodbye to hand written notes.
Interests and Hobbies:
I like to lift weights, go to random concerts in the city and once I shake off this "I'm a poor resident-mentality" hope to start traveling. I also drink a lot of coffee to help me stay wired throughout the day. I guess it's no good I get free coffee here...or it's really good.
