Why I chose Advocate Lutheran General Hospital:
I chose Lutheran General Hospital because when I interviewed here I felt the program was a good fit for me. I didn't have the chance to do a medical student rotation here like some of the other residents but even without that I felt like I got a good feel of the program on interview day from talking to other residents. One of the things I liked about the program was that there seemed to be great camaraderie amongst all the residents. It also seemed that the residents felt comfortable working with the attendings and that the attendings were always willing to teach and answer questions. I was looking for a program that was small and close knit but with many learning opportunities and I feel I chose the right program for me.
What is it like being a resident here?
Being a resident here has been a great experience so far. Everyone does a great job of making the new residents feel comfortable and like we are a part of the team. The attendings have been very good teachers and it is always easy to talk to them. The residents get along well with each other and are very supportive. There is enough time allotted for teaching and lectures and still plenty of time left for reading on our own. Also, our schedule gives us enough time to have a life outside of the hospital! Within the first few weeks of residency I knew I had made the right choice in choosing LGH.
Interests and Hobbies
I enjoy spending time in Chicago, hanging out with my family and friends, traveling, cooking, and yoga. I've also recently started training for the Chicago half marathon and I feel lucky that as a resident I have enough time to do this!
