Several Advocate hospitals have achieved Magnet designation, placing them in an elite group of hospitals in the nation.
Besides sharing the Advocate name, Advocate Christ Medical Center, Advocate Hope Children's Hospital, Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital, Advocate Lutheran General Hospital and Advocate Lutheran General Children's Hospital all share a special distinction. Each of these hospitals has achieved Magnet designation by the Magnet Recognition Program® of the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), a prestigious accomplishment exemplifying nursing excellence, quality patient care and innovations in professional nursing practice. The Magnet designation process requires extensive documentation of a culture of nursing excellence. Applicants journey through a process of self-assessment, gap analysis and cultural transformation that engages and evolves the entire organization. Fewer than 7% of the hospitals in the U.S. enjoy Magnet status. Even more impressive—Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, Advocate Lutheran General Children's Hospital, Advocate Christ Medical Center and Advocate Hope Children's Hospital are among the 3% of hospitals in the country that have achieved redesignation as Magnet hospitals.
2010 Malcolm Baldrige Award
Fewer than 10 hospitals in the country have been named Baldrige Quality Award winners.
In recognition of its achievements in quality and performance, the United States Department of Commerce awarded Advocate Good Samaritan the 2010 Baldrige National Quality Award for the healthcare sector. Recipients of this award demonstrate outstanding performance in leadership; strategic planning; customer and market focus; measurement, analysis, and knowledge management; workforce focus; process management; and results. Established in 1987, the Baldrige Program shines the spotlight on organizations that exemplify excellence in quality and performance. Good Samaritan's AA bond rating decreases in risk-adjusted mortality, overall patient satisfaction for selected clinical areas, implementation of quality improvement methodologies and associate satisfaction scores are among the many bright spots illuminated by this achievement.
