With more than 30,000 patients passing through our emergency department doors annually, the Department has long served as the first point of contact for most people in our communities to experience Good Shepherd Hospital. As emergency care technology advances and our primary service area continues to grow, our hospital faces significant challenges in meeting the needs of our community. In response, we are constructing a new, state-of-the-art Emergency Department. The expanded Emergency Department will increase the number of treatment rooms, thereby reducing wait times, increasing patient and family privacy, and providing a more efficient work environment for our caregivers.

Our new Cardiac Care Center provides the highest quality heart care that medical technology can deliver. The new 54,000 square-foot facility boasts state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment catheterization labs, open-heart surgery capabilities, and the latest technology in cardiac monitoring. In keeping with our commitment to the community, the new Cardiac Care Center is supported by some of the country's most experienced and respected cardiac surgeons, cardiologists and clinical staff. Your gift will help support future expansion and advancements, including minimally invasive vascular surgery techniques and cardiac electrophysiology to treat arrhythmic disorders.

Ensuring comprehensive resources for breast care patients
Good Shepherd Hospital's Breast Care services meet the breast health needs of women of all ages. A comfortable and supportive setting complements the total spectrum of care with prevention, detection, diagnosis and treatment for breast health. Your contribution supports services including screening and diagnostic mammography, ultrasound, stereotactic biopsy (the "no stitches" breast tissue sampling technique) and educational and emotional support.

At Good Shepherd every birth is a blessed event, and every new mother is cared for in our state-of-the-art Birth Center with a comprehensive and caring approach to mother and baby care. Providing a comprehensive program for rehabilitation
Patients with coronary heart and lung disease often need comprehensive rehabilitation services. At Good Shepherd, rehabilitation professionals form a team with patients and their physicians to reduce risk factors to prevent future illness. Your philanthropy supports all three phases of the program, which are individualized to meet the needs of each cardiac patient and include intensive education, exercise training, coronary risk factor counseling and maintenance in a supervised environment.

Caring for your heart
The Cardiac Care Center provides advanced cardiac services including cardio-diagnostics, interventional cardiology and open-heart surgery. The Center for Heart Quality promotes clinical education and insight into the most advanced therapies available now and those that are on the cutting edge. Funds to the center support cardiac research, community screenings and events and the expansion of new cardiac programs.

Invest in the future of science and medicine and boost a young person's career with a gift to a program that introduces and educates high school students about career opportunities in health care. Selected students spend six weeks during the summer in a hospital environment, immersed in various hospital areas, including obstetrics, orthopedics, nursing units, the emergency room, surgery and more.

Treating the special needs of children with developmental problems
Pediatric therapy services provided at Good Shepherd locations in Lake Zurich and Crystal Lake develop the abilities of children facing tremendous obstacles. Your gift will allow these two facilities to continue physical, occupational and speech therapy services for children from ages zero to 18. Staff therapists are specially trained to understand and treat the special physical and emotional needs of children, as well as instruct parents.

Connecting senior citizens to wellness resources
Senior Advocate provides health resources and customized wellness programs for seniors. Your gift helps us offer a number of benefits, including financial counseling, information referral, discounted and/or free screenings, Health and Fitness Center memberships and much more.
