Cancer Center Renovation - David Gustin, M.D. Fund
Illinois Masonic Medical Center's specialized cancer services include state-of-the-art medical treatment for the body, but also caring, multidisciplinary support for the spirit. Our board-certified cancer physicians guide adults with cancer through a continuum of expert care from screening and diagnosis to treatment and follow-up.
The Creticos Cancer Center treats the whole person by offering services to assist with emotional, psychiatric, dietary and spiritual needs. The Center offers clinical trials and an on-site pharmacy in a building directly across from the hospital. Recently we opened the first hospital-based Gilda's Club - a place where men, women and children with cancer, and families and friends, join with others to build social and emotional support.
To provide the most comforting and soothing environment for our cancer patients, we renovated our 15-year-old chemotherapy room. New chemotherapy chairs designed for comfort include personal electronics offering music and video programs for patients during treatments, and laptops for patients to work remotely and communicate with loved ones. In addition to the chemotherapy room renovation, the first floor waiting room and registration area were remodeled to enhance the look and comfort of our Center.
