Priority of the Month: Nursing Endowment
Commitment, compassion and expertise has always been the legacy of nursing at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. And that excellence has continued to be a priority for the hospital. In August 2005, the Lutheran General Hospital Nursing Staff received the Magnet Recognition Award for Excellence in Nursing. The magnet award, granted by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, is considered the benchmark for excellence in hospitals. Magnet facilities foster the spirit of innovation, value collaboration, create safe environments for care delivery, and expect excellence at all levels of nursing.
Nurses are the key to the delivery of quality health care and successful patient outcomes. Continuing education, nursing certifications and evidenced-based research play a huge role in maintaining high quality nursing care, especially in maintaining our magnet status. However, all of these opportunities require time, talent and funding….often times difficult to obtain.
Philanthropic support can help nurses to advance in the nursing profession through continuing education, certifications and nursing research. The Nursing Endowment for Research and Education will support clinical education expenses for nursing staff including internal and external conferences, conference travel expenses, and tuition for graduate education. The funds will also support research projects to increase clinical excellence and to improve patient outcomes.
