Funded entirely through a multimillion-dollar estate gift from the late Charles Frisbie, the Alzheimer's Support Center was created in 2010 to improve care for the estimated one in five seniors who will develop some sort of dementia. Click here to read about one family’s experience.
The Center works across all sites and services of Advocate Health Care to provide:
- Education, consultation and support – Its 30-minute video, “Best Practices in Alzheimer's Care,” provides valuable insights and guidelines for health professionals and family members caring for individuals with dementia.
- Outpatient assessment programs – Five memory assessment centers assist patients, families and care partners throughout the trajectory of the disease.
- Community outreach – The Center works with the Alzheimer's Association to provide education and support to our patients in the community.
- Funding for research projects to improve patient care – The Center collaborates with outside organizations to conduct research related to Alzheimer's disease.
