You're going to see us in a new light!
Anesthesiology is the specialty most directly concerned with that goal. It is a practice that is both old and new, combining traditional methods with new developments. Our concept is to provide a dynamic clinical environment in which current advances are regularly integrated into a program committed to excellent clinical care.
The Department of Anesthesiology of Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center believes that the best care always considers patient comfort and emotional support as well as current technology. These values have been a part of the residency program since its inception in 1971. You're going to see us in a new light because since 2008, our department has undergone an exciting new change, including addition of a new Department Chair and acquisition of new attending faculty from various academic hospitals in the Chicagoland area, who are committed to resident education. We have also established a thriving pain management center, as well a regional anesthesia rotation for the residents. We have also incorporated a very diverse and enriching didactic program, which we believe has been fundamental in the intellectual development of our residents
We are a very busy hospital with a varied surgical case mix, which has allowed us to perform over 11,650 surgical procedures and over 14,000 anesthesia procedures yearly. We are encouraged by these numbers and expect exponential growth in our case loads over time, which benefits our residents' anesthetic experience. We strive to train clinicians of the highest order and to instill in them a lifelong commitment to professional growth.
