Benefiting oncology programs at Advocate South Suburban Hospital
Advocate South Suburban Hospital’s oncology services offer a multidisciplinary approach to cancer diagnosis, treatment and recovery. Recognizing the hardships and anxiety many cancer patients experience, the hospital is seeking philanthropic support to consolidate all of its outpatient services in one convenient location and to enhance its wholistic approach to care.
Comprehensive care. South Suburban Hospital’s oncologists, hematologists, pathologists, radiologists and surgeons work together as a team to coordinate the best treatment options available. Our Cancer Center utilizes state-of-the-art technology typically found only in large medical centers. We also offer minimally invasive approaches to cancer treatment, including the da Vinci® Surgical System, which dramatically reduces recovery time and side effects. Our Breast Health Center offers the latest advances in early detection of breast cancer such as digital mammography, high-resolution breast imaging and biopsy, and other services. Conducting research and offering clinical trials provides our patients with opportunities that may not be available in a typical community hospital setting.
By bringing together diagnostic services, medical oncology, radiation oncology, infusion center, genetic counseling, pain clinic, palliative care and labs, we can offer our patients a one-stop shop for comprehensive cancer care—close to home.
Compassionate support. The care at South Suburban Hospital extends beyond the physical needs of our patients. Our nurse navigators help patients access and understand the medical care and other services they need by providing information, guidance and reassurance throughout the course of their treatment. The hospital’s oncology resource center will offer psychosocial counseling, space for physician consultations and educational materials. Through our partnerships with local and national cancer organizations, our patients have access to a network of services including survivorship programs.
With the help of charitable gifts, the hospital can provide an even wider range of education and support services for area cancer patients and their families.
