Community Health Fund Advisory Council
On Monday, December 11, 2006, local government officials, religious and community leaders attended the Advocate Bethany Hospital Community Health Fund Advisory Council kick-off meeting. The Advisory Council consists of 30 community and 5 Advocate members. In this role the Council will help identify health challenges, available existing health care resources, gaps in services, as well as promote health and wellness on the Westside of Chicago.
The following communities will be targeted: Austin, Humboldt Park, North Lawndale, West and East Garfield Park. The Community Health Fund will provide $1 million per year for fourteen years, from 2007 through 2020. Ideally, the fund will support local efforts by churches, schools, clinics, community groups and others to build a healthier community.
This commitment is made by Advocate on Bethany's behalf as part of its new focus as a specialty hospital serving patients with extended care needs. For more information regarding the Community Health Fund, please contact Virgil Giles, Director of Communication/Government Relations, at (773) 265-4309.
