Salary
Compensation offered to those in the Pediatric Residency Program is adjusted annually to be consistent with those at the University of Illinois, determined to provide similar or superior benefits to programs in the Chicago area. For the academic year 2013 - 2014, the annual salaries are:
PGY I $50,680
PGY II $52,843
PGY III $55,203
PGY IV $57,694
Presently, Advocate Christ Medical Center allots up to $1,500 for each PGY II and PGY III resident for professional and educational expenses. This fund may reimburse costs for approved conferences, travel (including travel for interviews), books, computer programs, PDAs, etc.
Vacation
Four-weeks of vacation per year, generally taken in two-week blocks.
Insurance
Health Insurance: A resident may select any health and dental care insurance plans offered by the Advocate Health Care system, but any costs beyond the approved reimbursement amount will be borne by the resident.
Professional Liability Insurance Provided subject to and in accordance with the medical center's Master Self Insurance Programs.
Disability Benefits Provided in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Advocate Corporation Disability Income Protection Plan (includes maternity leave).
Life Insurance Provided under the terms and conditions of the Advocate Corporation Survivors Protection Plan.
Other Benefits
Qualified Retirement Plans and Tax Deferred Annuities Available to the resident.
Parking Free parking in designated areas.
Meal Reimbursement Provided through a hospital debit card system.
Compensation for Excess Calls Provided under the terms and conditions of the Housestaff Officer's Agreement.
Special Assistance Provided when appropriate and requested in licensure, housing matters, placement matters, and application for specialty board requirements.
