Affliations

Advocate Health Care is affiliated with three (3) Chicago area universities/medical schools:

  • Midwestern University, College of Osteopathic Medicine
  • Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, Chicago Medical School
  • University of Illinois, College of Medicine

Within the Advocate system, medical student rotations for students from the schools listed above are provided at: Christ Medical Center, Condell Medical Center, Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Lutheran General Hospital and Trinity Hospital. All Core Clerkships and Sub-Internships take place at these sites. Most elective rotations also take place at the hospitals listed above, but in select circumstances may also occur at other Advocate sites.

Policies

The following policies are relevant to medical student placement. Please read before applying for a rotation.

Scheduling Rotations

Students from Affiliated Medical Schools: Core clerkships and sub-internships must be scheduled through the university medical school. Electives may be scheduled through the medical school (university specific) or by contacting the Hospital/Department directly. See Site Specific Information below.


Students from Non-Affiliated Medical School: Non-affiliated students are only eligible for 3rd or 4th year elective rotations at Christ Medical Center, Illinois Masonic Medical Center or Lutheran General Hospital. Assignment is based on availability. Electives may be scheduled by contacting the Hospital/Department Student Coordinator directly. See Site Specific Information below.

Forms/Requirements

Once a rotation is scheduled or approved, the following forms and information must be received by the Department Student Coordinator a minimum of two (2) weeks prior to the rotation start date. Information can be submitted via e-mail, fax, or postal service to the rotating location (See Site Specific Information). Students must follow-up with the Coordinator to ensure paperwork has been received and processed.
