Advocate Health Care and Condell Medical Center announced today that they have finalized their integration and transitioned Condell into the Advocate family. After a nearly 8-month regulatory process involving approval from state and federal agencies, Condell becomes the ninth hospital in Advocate, the state’s largest integrated health delivery system.
“Together we will continue to advance the health care delivery system in Lake County and expand access to medical services in the region,” said Jim Skogsbergh, president and CEO of Advocate Health Care. “One immediate benefit is Condell’s return to the Blue Cross Blue Shield network effective today.”
Condell Medical Center will once again be participating in Blue Cross HMO Illinois, Blue Advantage and Blue Cross PPO Products. In addition, physicians who are members of the newly formed Advocate Condell Physician Partners PHO will be accepting HMOI Illinois patients.
“The integration of Advocate Health Care and Condell Medical Center will bring substantial benefits to our patients, community, medical staff and associates including improved access to care, Level I trauma services and increased capacity,” said Dennis Millirons, president, Advocate Condell Medical Center.
“With a shared mission and values and an absolute commitment to the community, we will continue to build upon Condell’s 80-year history and together serve as the leading health care provider in Lake County,” Skogsbergh said.
Condell’s associates and community leaders will celebrate the integration Wednesday, December 3 at a variety of events on the hospital campus.
Advocate Health Care, a nationally-ranked health system, is the largest health care provider in Illinois. Advocate operates more than 200 sites of care across metropolitan Chicago, including nine hospitals, two children’s hospitals, four Level I trauma centers (the state’s highest designation in trauma care), a home health care company and the region’s largest medical group. As a not-for--profit, mission-based health system affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and the United Church of Christ, Advocate contributed more than $344 million in charitable care and services to communities across Chicagoland in 2007.
Serving the community since 1928, Libertyville-based Condell Medical Center is the largest health care provider in Lake County. The Medical Center has 283 licensed beds and provides tertiary care services such as cardiac surgery, neurosurgery and radiation therapy. The Condell Health Network also includes four immediate care facilities, home services and an intergenerational care center providing child and adult day care services. Condell Medical Center was recently recognized among the nation’s top hospitals for quality by the National Research Corporation (NRC), an independent health care research firm.
