Armada named president of Advocate Lutheran General Hospital
OAK BROOK, Ill - Advocate Health Care today announced Anthony A. Armada has been named president of Advocate Lutheran General Hospital and Advocate Lutheran General Children’s Hospital effective Nov. 30, 2009.
Armada comes to Advocate after five successful years as president and chief executive officer of Henry Ford Hospital and Health Network in Detroit. At Henry Ford, Armada led the system’s three hospitals, 26 ambulatory medical centers and its partnership with a 1,000-physician medical group.
In his time there, Armada engineered a $90 million turnaround, posting a $60 million profit last year and exceeding operating margins and cost targets for 14 consecutive quarters. He also introduced a service excellence strategy that raised patient satisfaction scores to the highest in Henry Ford Hospital history.

Armada also served as senior vice president and general manager at Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles. He has held numerous other senior leadership positions at Northridge Hospital Medical Center, Columbia Chino Valley Medical Center and Torrance Memorial Medical Center.
Armada earned master’s degrees in business administration and health administration from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio after receiving his bachelor’s degree in medical technology from Michigan State University.
He is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and has earned that group’s ACHE Service Award. He also is a member of the Healthcare Executive Study Society and is chairman of the Asian Health Care Leaders Association.
