I came to Family Medicine out of the Free Clinic Movement and a Woman's Health Care Group in Boston during the early 70's. My interests include movies, gardening, Mexican beaches, musculoskeletal problems and moving our country towards universal health care. What I particularly appreciate and support in our residency program is the breadth and depth of our special projects. These include our school-based health centers, our newborn walk-in clinic and child development training, our geriatric home program, and our psychology fellows.

I started out my professional career as an Anthropologist studying culture change in the Highlands of Papua New Guinea. After a transitional period
spent working on a psychoanalytic psychiatric unit, I finally arrived in the world of Family Medicine...a culture I took to immediately. I have taught in
Family Medicine residencies for the last twenty years, and have never lost my awe and respect for the work done by FP docs. Among other topics, I
teach about doctor/patient encounters, psychological development, family systems approaches, primary care counseling and, of course, cultural issues
in our work. When not working, I dedicate myself to nurturing my marriage and family, bicycling, reading good literature and not-so-good science fiction. Every summer, the trout of the Big Horn River in Montana compete to connect with the fly-line I cast to them.
