Access to the Resident Physician Files by the Residents

PURPOSE:
|
|
To ensure the rights of residents to have access to information in their files while at the same times ensuring the security of those files.
|
|
POLICY:
|
|
Residents have the right to view the information in their Departmental/Residency files while under supervision.
|
Procedure
- A resident wishing to review his or her file(s) can request to do so. His or her perusal of the file(s) must be done under the direct supervision of the Program Director or his/her designee.
- A resident wishing to have a copy of any information in the file(s) must make a request to the Program Director. The Program Director will determine whether the request is legitimate and should be honored. If the request should be honored, the Program Director or designee will make the copy to give to the resident without relinquishing possession of the original document by the Department.
