President's Fund for Special Needs
The President's Fund for Special Needs at Good Shepherd Hospital will help provide additional resources and flexibility to respond quickly to new ideas and programs that support the hospital's strategic directions.
Breast Care Center
Good Shepherd Hospital's breast care services meet the breast health needs of women of all ages. A comfortable and supportive setting complements a total spectrum of care that includes prevention, detection, diagnosis and treatment. Your contribution supports services including screening and diagnostic mammography, ultrasound, stereotactic biopsy (the "no stitches" breast-tissue sampling technique), and educational and emotional support.
Cancer Care Services
Our Cancer Care Center brings together expertise and highly advanced technology with the personalized attention and convenience of a local community hospital. The Center was recently ranked as one of the nation's best cancer centers by the American College of Surgeons' Commission on Cancer. The hospital is currently raising funds to help take cancer care to an even higher level.
The Wayne and Patricia Kocourek Family Cardiac Care Center
Our Cardiac Care Center provides the highest quality heart care that medical technology can deliver. The 54,000-square-foot facility boasts state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment, catheterization labs, open-heart surgery capabilities, and the latest technology in cardiac monitoring. In keeping with our commitment to the community, the Cardiac Care Center is run by some of the country's most experienced and respected cardiac surgeons, cardiologists and clinical staff. Your gift will help support advancements including minimally invasive vascular-surgery techniques and cardiac electrophysiology to treat rhythm disorders.
Staff Education
Patients benefit when caregivers grow professionally. Your gift to this fund supports ongoing training and education for Good Shepherd Hospital associates.
Robotic Surgery Suite
Each year, Good Shepherd Hospital performs more than 150 minimally invasive surgeries using the da Vinci® Surgical System. Your gift will help us create a dedicated robotic-assisted surgery suite to meet the growing demand for these procedures.
Birth Center
At Good Shepherd every birth is a blessed event, and every new mother is cared for in our state-of-the-art Birth Center with a comprehensive and thoughtful approach to mother and baby care. By selecting our Birth Center for your donation, you'll be helping to support our labor, delivery and recovery suites, private rooms, certified lactation consultants and other amenities that get parenthood-and life-off to a great start.
Pediatric Emergency Department Fund
Nearly 30 percent of the patients treated in our emergency department are children. Your gift will help ease the fears and stress that come with being sick by helping Good Shepherd Hospital purchase a Pediatric Coping Cart, which will be stocked with an array of toys for all ages including books, stickers and cards. An interactive Fun Center will include a Nintendo Wii and a DVD player.
Pediatric Therapies Program
Pediatric therapy services provided at satellite locations in Lake Zurich and Crystal Lake develop the abilities of children facing tremendous obstacles. Your gift will allow these two facilities to continue physical-, occupational- and speech-therapy services for children from birth to age 18. Staff therapists are trained to understand and treat the special physical and emotional needs of children, as well as to instruct parents.
Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Program
Patients with coronary heart and lung disease often need comprehensive rehabilitation services. At Good Shepherd Hospital, rehabilitation professionals form a team with patients and their physicians to reduce risk factors and prevent future illness. Your philanthropy supports all three phases of the program, which are individualized to meet the needs of each cardiac patient and include intensive education, exercise training, coronary-risk-factor counseling and maintenance in a supervised environment.
Senior Advocate Program
Senior Advocate provides health resources and customized wellness programs for seniors. Your gift helps us offer a number of services, including financial counseling, information referral, discounted or free screenings, Health and Fitness Center memberships and much more.
Future Physicians and Future Health Care Professionals
Invest in the future of science and medicine and boost a young person's career with a gift to a program that introduces high-school students to career opportunities in health care. Selected students spend six weeks during the summer in a hospital environment, immersed in various hospital areas including obstetrics, orthopedics, nursing units, the emergency room, surgery and more.
