Advocate Medical Group

Paving the way: Since its inception, the Adult Down Syndrome Center was a pioneer for medical care for adults with Down syndrome. Learn how this special group of people leads healthy lives…

Charitable gifts are vital to Advocate Medical Group

The largest physician practice in the state, the not-for-profit Advocate Medical Group sponsors a number of mission-based outpatient programs across the Chicago area. Charitable gifts enable us to invest in specialized patient-care facilities such as our soon-to-be-replaced dental van; sponsor community outreach programs that help area residents prevent or manage chronic illnesses; and provide services to meet health needs that often go unaddressed.

Philanthropy news and events at Advocate Medical Group

  • Lutheran General Hospital's September 26 gala at the Four Seasons Hotel in Chicago will benefit Advocate Medical Group's pediatric hematology/oncology program and the Midwest Children's Brain Tumor Center at Lutheran General Children's Hospital. For more information, contact Christie Santos at 847.723.8682 or AiMee Madden at 847.723.8518.

Funding opportunities

Below is a list of programs at Advocate Medical Group that currently need your support.

Advocate Addiction Treatment Program
The Advocate Addiction Treatment Program is designed to guide individuals struggling with addiction along the road to recovery. For 45 years, Advocate Medical Group and Advocate Lutheran General Hospital professionals have helped thousands of people overcome their addiction by addressing physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of participants and their families. Your gift will help participants who cannot afford care receive the services they need to reclaim a balanced life.

The Adult Down Syndrome Center
Adults with Down syndrome make up a new population of developmentally disabled who outlive their caretakers. Serving more than 3,000 patients, the Adult Down Syndrome Center provides crucial psychosocial and medical services to people with Down syndrome across the Midwest. It was the first of its kind in the world. Many in this unique population are on public assistance and, in most instances, there are few sources of reimbursement for these much-needed services.

To ensure the future of this unique service, the Adult Down Syndrome Center is establishing a $3 million endowment fund. Your contribution will ensure that these patients continue to get care that addresses their special needs and encourage research that will help those with Down syndrome lead fuller, healthier lives.

Income from the endowment will allow Advocate Medical Group and Advocate Lutheran General Hospital to advance, enrich and ensure the programs and services of this uniquely focused center serving adult patients with Down syndrome.

Pediatric Hematology/Oncology
The Hematology and Oncology Clinic is certified by the national Children's Oncology Group and includes two physicians who are board certified in pediatric hematology/oncology. Tests such as spinal taps and bone marrow assessments are conducted onsite. The program relies heavily on charitable gifts. Gifts help cover the cost of special treatments, which have a low reimbursement rate, as well as the services of a child-life specialist so — important for easing a child's anxiety, but not covered at all by insurance.
