Career Coach
The perfect advocate is one that knows you best.
Career Coach is designed specifically to help you advance at Advocate and grow both personally as well as professionally. You can explore interests, assess skills, set goals, and progress from "where you are now" to "where you might want to be" within the Advocate system.
Choose from four different pathways:
How it works:
If you're interested in learning more about Career Coach, contact Steve Niems, Mgr., Advocate Career and Transition Services, at 630-990-7094, or 52-7094. You'll then be given the name of your Coach and a suggested time for your first meeting.
Coaching sessions will be determined by your unique situation. Follow-up meetings will be scheduled on an as-needed basis as determined by you and your Career Coach. There's no cap on the number of meetings allowed; however, there is an expectation that you must complete any assessments and assignments in a dedicated manner to ensure program effectiveness and efficiency.
You'll likely fit into one of seven distinct niches or tracks based on your existing position and stated career objectives:
- Clinical Track: Usually requires direct patient care and formal education/training. (Common positions within this track include Medical Assistant, RN, LPN, CNA, Surgical Technologist, Pharmacy Technician, RT, Physical Therapist, and Radiographer.)
- Business Track: Usually located in office settings and usually requires formal education/training. (Common positions include Medical Coder, HR Generalist, Recruiter, Accountant, Analysts, Risk Management Specialist, and Financial Counselor.)
- Clerical Track: Doesn't require college schooling, but rather is successfully augmented with specific training in computer software programs. (Common positions include Administrative Assistant, Medical Records Clerk, Secretaries, Insurance Processors, and PSR.)
- Support Track: Doesn't always require additional education/training. (Common positions include Telephone Operators, Security Guards, Food Service Workers, Customer Service Reps, and Computer Technicians.)
- Facilities Track: Usually located in public and patient care areas and may or may not require specific training. (Common positions include Housekeepers, PSA, Dispatch, Couriers, Equipment Techs, Electricians, Clinical Engineer, Data Manager, Medical Repair Tech, and Maintenance Technicians.)
- Leadership Track: Usually requires additional education and training in preparation into advancement, supervisory or management positions.
- Enrichment Track: Designed to assist an associate who chooses to stay in an existing role or job, but would like to increase their job satisfaction and performance by the identification of learning opportunities to augment the day-to-day job execution.
Once your personal situation, goals and Career Coach tracks have been identified, a personalized program will be created. If you're looking to advance within Advocate, we're here to help.
