Beneficiary Information: Stroke Services
Advocate Trinity Hospital's service area has the highest incidence of stroke in the city of Chicago. As the main care provider in the community, Trinity Hospital is committed to providing the best treatment options for stroke victims.
To do so, Trinity Hospital is pursuing Primary Stroke Center certification in 2009 through the Joint Commission, and it will become one of only 27 Primary Stroke Centers in the state of Illinois. The hospital will provide a multi-disciplinary approach to stroke care that will include advanced therapeutics to treat and reverse ischemic strokes. A partnership with Advocate Christ Medical Center will offer additional minimally invasive options for stroke care.
Stroke is the third-leading cause of death in Chicago, and one-third of stroke victims are hospitalized within three months of their stroke. When detected early, some strokes can be reversed, or damages to brain tissue can be kept to a minimum for stroke patients. Proceeds from this year's gala will support Trinity Hospital's ability to provide specialized treatments for stroke patients. These include 24-hour, seven-day-a-week access to a team of specially trained physicians and nurses who respond to and treat strokes immediately upon the patients' arrival at the hospital. To help ensure that community members recognize the signs and symptoms of strokes, the hospital will also provide outreach programs and education.
Philanthropy plays an important role in our ability to enhance these programs and services and provide the best possible care to our patients. Your support of Gala 2009 and Trinity Hospital's neuroscience and stroke program is vital to the continued growth of the hospital.
