2010 Achieving Excellence Conference

Robin Fretwell Wilson, JD
Plenary Session

Last year's conference took place on September 23, 2010 and featured exceptional speakers who are national and regional experts on important research-related topics. Our 2010 conference was a great success and many participants remarked "it was the best conference yet". Conference participants represented 39 different organizations (including clinical sites, academia, and industry) and 6 different states including such far away places as New York, Florida, and Alabama.

2010 conference featured nine exhibitors

The plenary sessions featured Margaret Grey, DrPH, RN (Yale University) who talked about "Advancing Clinical Research:  From Efficacy to Translation"; Robin Fretwell Wilson, JD (Washington & Lee University) who enlightened participants by sharing "Research Gone Wrong: Lessons Learned from the Jesse Gelsinger Case"; and Jonathan Moreno, PhD (University of Pennsylvania) who gave a timely and thought-provoking talk on "Controversies in Human Embryonic Stem Cell Research". The morning concluded with a lively panel discussion where participants could ask the experts about these and other topics.

After lunch, conference participants had the opportunity to hear these and other speakers address new topics from intervention research, to more lessons related to the Gelsinger case, to talks on research compliance, operations, and ethics. For more detailed information on the 2010 conference, please view our conference brochure.
