 Advocate BroMenn Medical Center's Acute Rehabilitation Unit provides quality inpatient rehabilitation services to patients with physical or cognitive problems that limit ability to handle daily activities, job skills, or social situations.
Treatment includes a team of rehabilitation nurses, physical and occupational therapists, speech and language pathologists, dietitians, social workers, psychologists, and chaplains. They are led by physiatrist Trisha Summerlin, MD, a physician specially trained in medical management of rehabilitation patients.
The unit's goal is to maximize motor and cognitive functions, empower family to take an active role, and provide spiritual and emotional support during the process.
