Advocate BroMenn Hosts Program on Lowering Diabetes Risks
Advocate BroMenn Medical Center Diabetes Services will hold a program entitled “Lower Your Risk for Pre-Diabetes” on Thursday, November 8 from 3 pm to 4 pm at the hospital, 1304 Franklin Avenue, Normal.
Diane Crouch, RN, BSN, a nurse with Advocate BroMenn Diabetes Services, will discuss healthy lifestyle strategies that can dramatically improve overall health and reduce the chance of developing Type 2 diabetes. Topics covered will include healthy eating, reading food labels and the importance of exercise and weight management.
According to the American Diabetes Association, 79 million Americans have pre-diabetes – blood glucose levels that are higher than normal, but not high enough to be diagnosed as diabetes. Research shows that some long-term damage to the body – especially the heart and circulatory system – may already be occurring in individuals with pre-diabetes.
Cost for the program is $10 and registration is required. For more information or to register please call (toll free) 800.323.8622 or visit www.advocatehealth.com/bromenn/classes .
