Advocate Christ Medical Center is serious about traumatic head injuries. As one of only six Level I trauma centers in Illinois, we see more severe trauma patients than any hospital in Illinois. This experience makes our brain injury program highly adept to treat any type of head trauma.
Christ Medical Center's experience with brain injuries means that patients receive a consistently high level of care with little variation. Our neurosurgeons have the expertise to treat the most complex and serious cases. And, we offer the most sophisticated imaging technologies to help diagnose and treat any variety of brain injury, including computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and LICOX monitoring.
Our dedicated surgical intensive care/neurologic intensive care (SINI) unit offers the latest monitoring technologies and expert nursing care. Patients complete their recovery with the help of our physical and rehabilitation therapists from our fully accredited rehabilitation program.
Christ Medical Center's SINI unit has earned the Beacon Award for Critical Care from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. Considered a top honor for critical care units the Beacon Award is given in recognition for demonstrating high quality standards, exceptional care, successful outcomes, evidence-based practices and research, promotion of a safe and healthy work environment, leadership, organizational ethics and strong communication and collaboration.
From concussions to severe hematomas (bleeding in the brain) to cerebral edema (swelling of the brain tissue), Christ Medical Center combines expert physicians with innovative treatments to successfully address some of the most critical patient scenarios.
