Advocate Christ Medical Center is a leader in cardiothoracic surgery for the Midwest. We were the first center to perform robotically assisted mitral-valve repair surgery and we perform more cardiovascular procedures than most other centers in the region.
Adult Cardiothoracic Surgery
Cardiothoracic surgeons at Christ Medical Center bring the experience of having pioneered some of the most advanced procedures used today. Our program offers a full range of options for virtually any condition, from coronary artery disease to complex arrhythmias.
Thoracic Surgery
With one of the busiest thoracic surgery programs in the Chicagoland area, we are one of only a few centers in Chicago to provide vide-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) to perform lobectomies, treat pneumothoraces and remove tumors in the mediastinum. As the first institution in Illinois to treat thoracic tumors using the CyberKnife Radiosurgery System, we continue to lead the way in innovative treatments for thoracic cancer.
VAD and Cardiac Transplant
Patients with congestive heart failure have access to a number of advanced surgical procedures at Christ Medical Center. We are nationally ranked as one of the top five medical centers for ventricular assist device (VAD) surgeries, and our surgeons were first in the United States to implant the HeartMate II VAD for destination therapy.
