Occupational and Hand Therapy
Available at Advocate Christ Medical Center, Palos, Tinley and Lockport
Advocate Christ Medical Center's occupational and hand therapy services help patients regain the use of their hands and upper extremities after neurological or physical injury. Our therapists use occupational therapy assessments, exercises and pain management techniques to increase overall function and help patients get back to regular activities.
Conditions treated include:
- Arm and hand injuries
- Lacerations
- Amputations
- Burns
- Hand surgery
- Tendonitis
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Osteoarthritis
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Stroke
Individualized Treatment Plans Occupational therapists conduct a skills assessment of each patient to determine their limitations and goals. A personalized occupational therapy treatment plan is then designed that includes an exercise program. Patients may also be fitted with customized splints to help them regain function. Therapists work with family members as well to provide education about the patient's injury and recovery to help reinforce the work done in therapy and promote better results.
