A normal heartbeat occurs when electrical impulses follow a rhythmic pattern through the heart to pump blood throughout the body.

Abnormalities in the heart's electrical system that can cause the heart to beat irregularly are called arrhythmias. Millions of people have arrhythmias. Often, no treatment is needed other than regular monitoring. On the other hand, an arrhythmia may be the sign of a more serious condition that can lead to heart disease, stroke or even heart attack.

Advocate Christ Medical Center is a recognized center for the treatment and monitoring of complex arrhythmias. We implant more pacemakers and defibrillators than most facilities in the Midwest. Our board certified electrophysiologists are some of the most experienced in performing catheter ablations. Christ Medical Center is among only a few institutions in Illinois to offer Stereotaxis and 3D intracardiac ultrasound.

Working with a team of renowned cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons and other specialists, electrophysiologists at Christ Medical Center also diagnose and treat other serious conditions that affect the heart muscle and can cause arrhythmias, including cardiomyopathy

From advanced diagnostics to cutting edge treatments, Advocate Christ Medical Center delivers powerful medicine and compassionate care to patients with all types of arrhythmias, including:
