inpatient rehabilitation

The Adult Comprehensive Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Program includes a 37-bed unit located within Advocate Christ Medical Center. We serve a diverse population of adults, 18 years and older, and have been accredited by CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) for more than 30 years.

Who Do We Serve:

Patients are screened by a physiatrist physical medicine and (rehabilitation physician) to verify that they meet the criteria for acute inpatient rehabilitation and are able to participate and benefit from 3 hours of therapy 5 days per week or 15 hours/7days.

Conditions treated include:

  • Amputation of Limb
  • Brain Injury
  • Cardiac conditions
  • Debility following medical complications
  • Major Multiple Trauma
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Other neurological conditions
  • Other orthopedic conditions
  • Parkinson's Disease
  • Spasticity
  • Spinal Cord Injury
  • Stroke

Our Program

The program provides daily physiatrist physical medicine and (rehabilitation physician) visits; 24 hour rehabilitation nursing, social services and therapy, including occupational, physical, recreational and speech therapy.

Patients will receive a minimum of three hours of physical, occupational and/ or speech therapy services; Monday through Friday, or a therapy schedule based on their individual needs. Additional therapy sessions will be provided on the weekends, as necessary.

Additional services or medical consultations may be needed during a patient's stay. These will be determined by the patient's physiatrist and treating team.
