Rehabilitation plays an integral role in recovery from heart attack or heart surgery. At Advocate Christ Medical Center, our nationally certified comprehensive cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation program combines exercise and education to help patients improve their quality of life and reduce the number of secondary cardiac incidents.
Led by some of the region's premiere cardiac and rehabilitation experts, our three-phase program features telemetry monitoring during exercise, as well as extensive education regarding lifestyle modification, diet, medications and continued exercise to ensure long-term health. We also screen for depression, which is commonly seen among cardiac patients. As one of the few centers that does this screening, we can assist the patient's referring physician to identify the signs and treat the symptoms of depression as early as possible.

We are proud to have received the Sustained Performance Award from the American Heart Association for our commitment to cardiac wellness. Where other programs provide blanket education about prevention, we provide customized information about proper nutrition, medications and potential risk factors based on each patient's specific condition. Patients are presented with information in each phase of recovery and rehabilitation so that they can begin true lifestyle changes at the time of discharge.
