Detecting Heart Problems
With the help of highly trained staff and some of the latest and most advanced diagnostic technology available, Christ Medical Center offers patients and physicians a wide range of options to help diagnose heart disease. Commonly used options include cardiac catheterization, angiography, electrocardiography (EKG), echocardiography (echo), holter monitoring, stress tests and electrophysiology studies.

Advanced Treatment
Christ Medical Center is committed to ensuring patients and their physicians have exceptional facilities, as well as advanced equipment and technologies on hand. The hospital operates four cardiac catheterization laboratories, offering angioplasty, atherectomy and coronary stent placement. Through our arrhythmia center, cardiologists implant pacemakers and defibrillators, and use radiofrequency ablation to pinpoint and eradicate arrhythmias.

Our expert cardiac surgeons use state-of-the-art techniques to perform the highest volume of open heart surgeries in Northern Illinois. The surgical heart unit and intensive care unit are supported by 24-hour physician coverage and staffed with nurses specially trained in cardiac care. Christ Medical Center also is a leader in the management of congestive heart failure.

Continued Care
Cardiac patients can build strength and improve their functional health with our cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation services. Patients participate in a three-phase cardiac rehabilitation program that includes telemetry monitoring of patients as they exercise, as well as individual instruction on lifestyle modification, diet, medications and continued exercise to ensure long-term health.
