Dr. Pat Pappas is among the leading cardiac surgeons in the region. As director of the cardiac surgical heart unit at Advocate Christ Medical Center, he oversees the state-of-the-art intensive care unit designed specifically for open-heart surgery patients.

He graduated from Northwestern University’s medical school, completed his residency at the McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University and is currently the clinical assistant professor of surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the Chicago Surgical Society. He has lectured to his peers and the public on advances in cardiac surgery and coronary artery bypass grafting.
