As director of the mechanical assist device program and surgery for congestive heart failure at Christ Medical Center, Dr. Mark Slaughter is a pioneer in the use of advanced surgical techniques. He obtained his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine, completed his residency at the McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University and completed a fellowship in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery at the University of Minnesota Hospital and Clinic. Slaughter is a clinical assistant professor of surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago and serves as president of the Cardiac Surgery Research and Education Foundation in Oak Lawn, Ill.
