The brain injury support group meets on a monthly basis. This group is open to individuals living with traumatic and non-traumatic brain injuries, including inpatients, outpatients, and their families/caregivers. The group offers a supportive framework for transitioning, coping, and living with brain injury. We provide education and social/emotional support, and participate in community events and fundraising.
The rehab support group meets twice a month. The group is open to any patient in the inpatient rehab program. The goals of the group are to provide patients with a forum to express their concerns and share their accomplishments, to provide patients with diagnosis specific resources, discuss easing the transition home and into the community, and to allow patients to develop connections with other patients on the rehab unit.
Spinal Cord Injury
The spinal cord injury support group meets on a monthly basis. This group is open to individuals with spinal cord injury or disease, including inpatients, outpatients, and their families. The group is participant-driven and provides support and information, as requested, regarding life after spinal cord injury/disease.
The inpatient stroke support group is scheduled on a weekly basis for patients with a diagnosis of stroke, as well as their families. The inpatient stroke support group provides education about stroke risk factors, effects of stroke, and stroke prevention. The group also provides coping and support to patients and families in order to assist with integration back into the community upon discharge, and enhance quality of life after a stroke.
