One of the many benefits of our intergenerational program is the amount of time children and adults get to spend quality time together. Through a carefully planned schedule, each classroom gets the opportunity to visit the “grandmas and grandpas” as a group, as well as invite individual “grandmas and grandpas” into their classroom.

Some of the engaging activities children and older adults take part in together are:

  • Reading books
  • Puzzles
  • Gardening Activities
  • Balloon Volleyball
  • Art Activities
  • Singing songs
  • Listening to music
  • Dancing
  • And many more!

The importance of the intergenerational activities does not necessarily lie in the complexity of the plan/task, but in the meaningful relationships that are formed while child and adult interact. This is why even the simplest activity, like working on a puzzle together, is a great way to help children and adults interact meaningfully.
