Employee Assistance Program
Real Solutions for Difficult Times

Life can be extremely challenging, and because there is little separation between home and work, personal problems often affect attendance, productivity and performance of one's job. Employee behavioral problems are not only disruptive, but also quite costly for the employer. The distressed employee is more likely to lower productivity, increase health care costs, and contribute accidents. And when the situation cannot be corrected, firing, hiring and training costs are incurred as well.

It is important to be responsive to employees during difficult times. Getting the right guidance and counseling in a timely manner can often help employees improve performances, prevent discharge, and alleviate, if not eliminate many serious problems. It is difficult for employers to properly assist employees because of their reluctance to confide underlying personal problems for fear of harm to their reputation or termination.

With the Advocate Employee Assistance Program (EAP) you can give your troubled employees the help they need.

About EAP
Established in 1982, the Advocate EAP provides a full range of high quality professional employee assistance programs. We conduct an in-depth needs assessment and provide an EAP customized to your organization's specific requirements. Our programs can be tailored to supplement your existing benefits or to fit with your health care plan.

Services are provided on-site or at 12 convenient locations throughout Chicago and its suburbs. With Advocate EAP we offer access to the vast resources of Advocate Health Care, including a full range of health care providers and services. We can also refer employees to other service providers as determined by their health care coverage.

Advocate EAP focuses on productivity, absenteeism, disability, workers' compensation issues, and reducing health care claims costs.

Advocate EAP is staffed by psychologists, social workers, and professional counselors who have graduate degrees and licenses or certification in the field of employee assistance. All staff members have extensive experience, receive continuous professional supervision, and participate in continuing education and training. We are guided by the codes of professional supervision, and participate in continuing education and training. We are guided by the codes of professional conduct and the standards set by The Employee Assistance Program Association.

All contacts and counseling are completely confidential, except for notification of harmful situations as required by law.

Services
Programs and services can be contracted on an employee per month or menu basis.

Problem Identification Assessment
Counseling sessions with an Advocate EAP counselor, during which problems re addressed and recommendations for resolution are made and evaluated.

Referral
Referral of the client, following problem assessment, to appropriate resources for problem resolution such as therapists, self help groups, financial advisors or legal counsel.

Education
Valuable educational programs regarding vital topics, provided on-site by EAP counselors. Management training programs include topics such as: harassment, drug and alcohol abuse, and stress in the work place. Employee presentations cover topics such as: job stress, parenting, and care giving.

Critical Incident Stress Debriefing
On-site counseling provided to employees to prevent post-traumatic shock following a critical incident, such as an employee death.

24-hour Access
Employees and their family members have access to professional trained counselors through a toll-free number 24 hours a day.
