Anita Bordoloi, M.D.

Year: PGY-IV
Hometown: Edwardsville, IL.
Medical School:
University of Illinois College of Medicine

“I've lived all over the world from Indiana to Detroit to Dallas to Hong Kong, but I've been happy to call Chicago my home since 2005. I chose to come to Advocate Illinois Masonic for residency because I loved the emphasis placed on teaching. We get the perfect balance of autonomy and supervision from our attendings, who are all very approachable and always ready to teach me something new. Because they are such great mentors, I feel inspired to pay it forward to the junior residents and medical students, which in the end enriches my own educational experience. Once I graduate, I plan to stay in Chicago to practice as a general OB/GYN in an underserved community. When I'm not delivering babies or operating, I enjoy being a foodie in Chicago and enjoying all the amazing restaurants this city has to offer!”

Allen R. Clark, M.D.

Year: PGY-IV
Hometown: Peoria, IL.
Medical School:
University of Illinois College of Medicine

"When entering the field of OB/GYN, my goal was to find a program that would make me a well trained generalist. Illinois Masonic has exceeded my expectations and made me ready to be a practicing attending. You begin to manage obstetric patients from the first day of intern year, and your surgical experience starts during your first week as you are expected to perform cesarean sections. The gynecology experience at Masonic is excellent, typically with two OR's running every day. The laparoscopic experience obtained from this institution is beyond excellent, and I will graduate Da Vinci trained and very comfortable with minimally invasive surgery. Finally, your experience during chief year is set up to mimic an attending physician, running the OB service, operating all day on Gyn, and running the outpatient Clinic, the three day to day activities of a generalist. I feel the experience here will make you into the best trained generalist possible, and ready to enter a practice as a well trained attending.”

Matthew J. King, M.D.

“I was fortunate enough to do my OB/GYN clerkship rotation at IMMC and learned early on that the residents, attendings, and professional staff are second to none.  They enjoy teaching residents and students alike, whether it is on L&D, in the OR, or in the office, which is why I decided to return for residency.  I'm excited that I have had the opportunity to learn from such an amazing group of people over the last four years!”

“In my spare time I love to travel, during residency I have been able to visit Ireland, Italy, work on my tan in Curacao, and win big in Las Vegas.  I also enjoy relaxing with a chilled glass of white wine and entertaining my Yorkshire Terrier, "Crosby".

Kimberly Bannon, M.D.

Year: PGY-III
Hometown: Lacon, IL
Medical School:
Southern Illinois University School of Medicine

“I grew up in a small town in central Illinois and spent my entire life there. I love my hometown, but I decided it was time for a change of pace for residency and have never doubted my decision. I love Chicago and everything it has to offer, including the summer festivals, Lake Michigan, restaurants, and sports teams. I chose Masonic for the amazing location, great residents and faculty who truly love their jobs, and the very diverse patient population. In my free time, I love trying new beers and foods, Body-Pump, going to the beach, and spending time exploring the city with my husband John and beagle named Harp.”

Kathryn Kemnetz, M.D.

Year: PGY-III
Hometown: Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Medical School:
University of Illinois College of Medicine

“My family is from Illinois, but for most of my life my home has been in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. I attended the University of Notre Dame for undergrad and UIC for medical school. I chose Illinois Masonic because it is really convenient to get such high case numbers all at one hospital. I also like the camaraderie among our residents and attendings. I am currently living in Lakeview and hope to stay and work in Chicago. In my free time, I enjoy exploring the city, working out, and of course hanging out with my co-residents!”

Julie Springer, M.D.

Year: PGY-III

“After growing up in the Chicago area, I am excited to be back in my hometown practicing OB/GYN. After completing my undergrad studies at St. Louis University and medical school at the University of Minnesota, I am looking forward to finishing up my residency with the wonderful team at Illinois Masonic. After graduation, I plan to stay in the Chicago area as an OB/GYN. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family, trying new restaurants, biking, and traveling.”

Lena Braginsky, M.D.

Year: PGY-II
Hometown: Buffalo Grove, IL
Medical School:
Loyola University of Chicago, Stritch School of Medicine

“I was born in Ukraine but have spent most of my life here in Chicago. I absolutely love our summers here in the city - from fun beaches to outdoor festivals, excellent concerts and nightlife, Chicago truly has something for everyone! In my free time I enjoy salsa dancing, working out and spending time with my husband. I think our greatest strength here at Masonic is our faculty!  Our attendings come from a broad range of training backgrounds and always foster a collaborative environment with the residents. All of our attendings are excellent mentors and place a lot of emphasis on the resident.”

Bridget Buyea, M.D.

Year: PGY-II
Hometown: Buffalo, NY
Medical School:
State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine

"I was born and raised in Buffalo, NY where I also went to medical school.  I traveled the Great Lakes to get to Chicago via sailboat and it was one of the greatest adventures of my life.  Since I have moved here, I have grown to love Chicago, especially the neighborhood Masonic is in.  Masonic has been great, mainly because of the people I get to work with everyday!  When I'm not at work, I like to sail, play sports, cook, explore Chicago or just read a good book.”

Kemoria Granberry, D.O.

Year: PGY-II
Hometown: Miami, FL
Medical School:
Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine

"I was born and raised in Miami, Florida and attended undergraduate in Chicago.  I loved the city so much; I stayed and taught middle school science for 3 years on the west side before medical school.  I enjoy teaching just as much as I enjoy singing and dancing.  One of Masonic's greatest strengths is our commitment to excellence.  It has been wonderful to be in an environment that values academics, patient care, and resident care with equal importance.”

Louisa Griggs, M.D.

Year: PGY-I
Hometown: Chicago, IL
Medical School:

“I am from the wonderful city of Chicago. I love the sun, adventures and traveling. I chose Masonic for its diverse patient population and the opportunity to use Spanish on almost a daily basis.  I was also looking for a training institution in which the residents had a genuinely supportive relationship with each other and I could not be happier with my experience thus far.”

Kelli Kilgore, D.O.

Year: PGY-I
Hometown: Des Moines, IA
Medical School:
Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine

"Originally from a small town in northern Iowa, I have spent the last 16 years prior to residency in Des Moines, Iowa.  After spending some time here on a rotation during 4th year, I knew this was where I wanted to train.  There is a strong emphasis on teaching among the faculty and senior residents, you begin operating from day one, and you are exposed to a diverse patient population.  In my free time, you will find me relaxing with my husband, Max, and two children, Zari and Ciel.  I also enjoy running, biking, swimming, and ballet, and I hope to run the Chicago marathon during my time here."

Ernest Powell, M.D.

Year: PGY-I
Hometown: Chicago, IL
Medical School:
Case Western Reserve University of Medicine

“I am originally from Chicago but attended medical school in Cleveland, Ohio and I am excited to be able to return to my hometown. Training here at Illinois Masonic allows me to interact with a patient population whose diversity matches that of the city itself. I look forward to training my next four years at this great program in this great city. In my free time I enjoy trying new restaurants with friends and occasionally reading a book for fun.”

Charlotte Hammond-Brown, BSM, MBA

Residency Program Administrator
Hometown: Chicago, IL
University: National Louis and Colorado Technical

"I was born and raised in the Windy City.  The desire to help in a medical setting has always been a passion since my early years as being a candy striper.  I’ve had a variety of roles in the healthcare industry; ranging communications coordinator, radiology, clinical scheduler and operations manager.  I find my role in medical education to be rewarding!  I grow with the residents, we are a team.  The attendings are great, approachable and beyond passionate in teaching the next generation of medical professionals. The tone in the medical center is warm and nurturing.”  These are necessary elements for success!  Our graduates are Chicago’s Finest.  Now, how about that!”
