What is Diabetes?
Diabetes is caused by a lack of insulin or an inadequate use of insulin, a hormone produced in the pancreas. Insulin helps move sugar (glucose) from the bloodstream into your cells so they can use it for energy.
If your pancreas doesn't produce enough insulin or if your body doesn't use the insulin, excess sugar remains in your blood and urine, which indicates diabetes.
