A bright future
Thanks to the experts at Advocate Medical Group's Adult Down Syndrome Center, Mary Berman's distinctive physical and emotional health needs are being met.
Charitable gifts are vital to Advocate Medical Group
The largest physician practice in the state, the not-for-profit Advocate Medical Group sponsors a number of mission-based outpatient programs across the Chicago area. Charitable gifts enable us to invest in specialized patient-care facilities such as our soon-to-be-replaced dental van; sponsor community outreach programs that help area residents prevent or manage chronic illnesses; and provide services to meet health needs that often go unaddressed.
Philanthropy news and events at Advocate Medical Group
Below is a list of programs at Advocate Medical Group that currently need your support.
Advocate Addiction Treatment Program
Thousands of men and women in our community struggle with the disease of drug or alcohol dependence. Charitable gifts support free evaluation and assessment of chemical dependence, inpatient detoxification for safe withdrawal from drugs or alcohol, weekly group therapy, intervention workshops and family recovery programs.
Autism Treatment Program
A lifelong neurobehavioral disorder that at impairs social skills, language and behavior, autism affects one every 100 children, and its incidence is increasing. Charitable gifts help fund training and support materials for parents; they also offset the cost of care for family who would otherwise be unable to afford it.
The Adult Down Syndrome Center
The oldest and largest clinic of its kind in the nation, the Center provides a full range of specialized health care services for 2,000 adolescents and adults with Down syndrome each year. Because most of these patients are insured by Medicare or Medicaid, and because they require longer-than-standard office visits, the Center operates at a significant loss. Charitable gifts enable patient to receive sensitive, specialized care that’s not available anywhere else in the Midwest. Your gift may be designated toward much-needed general operating support for the Center or the endowment for the Adult Down Syndrome Center.
Dental Mobile Van Outreach
The mobile dentistry program, based at Illinois Masonic Medical Center, provides oral health care to thousands of underserved and hard-to-reach populations in the Chicago area. Your gift will help the van continue to provide comprehensive dental services to those in need.
Young Hearts for Life
Sudden cardiac death (SCD) claims the lives of 30 young adults every week in the United States. One-third of these deaths may have been prevented through a simple, inexpensive heart screening. The Young Hearts for Life® Cardiac Screening Program brings qualified medical volunteers to high schools to provide free electrocardiograms (ECGs) to identify high-school students at risk for sudden cardiac death.
