Charitable gifts are vital to the hospital
Over the last century, Sherman Hospital has established its presence and reputation as the hospital of choice in Elgin and the surrounding communities. Having earned that status for dedication to advancing the quality and breadth of patient-centered care, we have received numerous accolades in recognition of our achievements. Sherman Hospital’s deep history dates back 125 years and is rooted in philanthropy. Charitable gifts have provided funding to make many of our hospital’s successes possible, including a new state-of-the-art building, nursing education that contributed to our achievement of Magnet designation, music therapy and patient-centered care programs, and a community garden to promote community health and education. Your dollars not only matter, they make a significant impact and afford enhancements to our facilities and programming that improve the delivery of care and the overall health of our community.

Advocate Sherman Hospital’s Emergency Department treats more than 60,000 people per year and has served as the area resource for training paramedics for over 25 years. Mission and Spiritual Care
The Office of Mission and Spiritual Care offers support for patients and their families by offering spiritual and religious coping skills before, during and after a medical event; conducting educational programs about spirituality and health; providing a chaplain available 24 hours a day; and partnering with communities and congregations in our service areas. Support of the Mission and Spiritual Care Fund helps to provide supplies that are utilized in the support of patients, which in the past has included items like yarn for the creation of prayer shawls.
Music is proven to have healing properties which include decreasing anxiety and elevating positive emotions. With a focus on patient-centered care, programming includes musicians playing in common and patient areas. With support for the Musicians Care Fund, Sherman Hospital fosters a more calming, restorative environment for patients by offering positive distractions that reduce pain, stress and anxiety.
