Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital named 100 Top Hospital in nation again
Today Thomson Reuters announced that Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital is a 100 Top Hospital in the nation, marking the third time that the hospital has been named to this prestigious list.
The annual study evaluates hospitals on measures of overall organization performance, including patient care, operational efficiency and financial stability. It compares hospitals only against similar facilities in terms of size and teaching status.
Identified from nearly 3,000 U.S. hospitals, 2012 award winners demonstrate that high-quality patient outcomes can be achieved while improving efficiency. If all hospitals performed at the same level as the 100 Top Hospitals award winners:
More than 186,000 additional lives could be saved
Approximately 56,000 additional patients could be complication-free
More than $4.3 billion could be saved
The average patient stay would decrease by nearly half a day.
“Being recognized as a 100 Top Hospital is a great honor for the entire community of Good Samaritan Hospital, especially physicians, nurses and other caregivers,” said hospital president Dave Fox. “Congratulations to all associates, physicians and volunteers for playing an important role in advancing our intention to be the best place for physicians to practice, associates to work and patients to receive care.”
