Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital’s first baby of 2013 arrives
Jason and Heather Gonzalez were at a New Year’s Eve party in Lombard Monday night when Heather’s water broke. Ten hours later, Sofia Lynn Gonzalez became the first baby born at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in 2013.
Sofia, born at 8 pounds, 3 ounces and measuring 19 ¾ inches long, was delivered at 9:19 a.m. by Dr. Vipal Arora, an ob/gyn.
Because Heather wasn’t due until Jan. 11, the couple was surprised – as were the other party guests – when her water broke around 11:30 p.m.
“Everyone kind of freaked out,” Heather said.
Jason and Heather headed to Good Samaritan Hospital and welcomed their little girl at 9:19 a.m. She is the Villa Park couple’s first child.
“She likes to make a grand entrance, I guess,” Heather said of Sofia arriving 10 days early to become the hospital’s first baby of the new year.
Both mom and baby are resting comfortably at Good Samaritan Hospital.
