Fashion show raises funds for Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital
More than 350 people attended the annual “Share our Future” fashion show and luncheon March 2 to raise money for an Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital program that assists families dealing with perinatal loss.
Entirely funded by philanthropy, the Share program allows families to receive counseling, grief literature and emotional support during and after their crisis, including support from others who have lived through similar situations. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Share program.
Dr. Vibha Thaker, neonatologist on staff at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, was recognized as this year’s honoree for her support of the program. Thaker feels very strongly about the program.
“Share helps heal deep wounds inflicted by the loss and at the same time keeps the memories alive to ensure that the life lost is not in vain,” said Thaker.
Twelve doctors and hospital administrators and 22 Share family children participated in the fashion show. Also honored were past committee members and chairs. The event took place at Ashton Place in Willowbrook.
A Gucci designer bag, two $1,000 cash prizes and an iPad 2 were among the top prizes in the grand prize drawing. A minimum of 10 percent of the net proceeds will be placed in the Share Endowment Fund.
