The Good Samaritan Health and Wellness Center is a 90,000 square foot fitness center and health club with three indoor pools, a track, an extensive fitness floor and weight room, four group exercise studios (including aerobics, Spin, Yoga and Pilates studios) and a basketball court. The Wellness Center is primarily an adult facility with limited supervised programming for children, offered at an additional fee.

Located in Downers Grove, Illinois, and serving the western suburbs of Chicago, the Wellness Center is the recipient of a Checkmark for Quality from the readers of Chicago Consumers Checkbook magazine and a Distinguished Achievement Award from the Medical Fitness Association.

Exercise Your Body

Cardiovascular equipment: An individual workout is easy and safe on our cardiovascular machines which include: treadmills, elliptical machines (easy on the joints), rowing machines, stair steppers, recumbent and stationary bikes.

Strength training equipment: Take advantage of our selectorized, free weight and plate-loaded equipment to strengthen and tone your muscles.

Swimming and water exercise: Our 5-lane, 25-yard pool is perfect for lap swimming on your own or during one of our classes.

Running/walking track: Surrounded by windows with views of the wooded landscape, runners and walkers can achieve their best performance with less stress on their joints with the 1/12-mile indoor track. The banked track is cushioned with the state-of-the-art Mondo surface.

Aerobic and group exercise classes: Aerobic activity is the way to build a stronger heart and with a variety of classes, it's fun and easy. Vary your routine with classes that include: low impact, step and Spin. Our state-of-the-art aerobic flooring absorbs the shock-all moves will be easy on the joints. 

Basketball and volleyball: On our full-size court you can shoot hoops, have a pick-up game and participate in league play. The court converts easily for volleyball. 

Steam rooms, sauna and whirlpool: Relax and soothe muscles and minds following your workouts in our steam rooms or whirlpool.

Massage therapy: Relax and soothe muscles and ease chronic muscle pain during sessions with licensed and certified massage therapists.

Personal training: Nationally certified personal trainers are exercise experts, here to help motivate you and develop an individualized program to achieve your personal goals.

Warm water exercise: Take it easy on your joints and muscles with warm water therapy classes including exercise for arthritis and fibromyalgia.

Additional specialty classes: Unique classes include group exercise for those with arthritis, heart disease, diabetes, and more.

Exercise Your Mind

Education classes: Attend a variety of on-going classes and seminars to help you on your mind/body journey. Classes include pre & post-natal education, health education lectures, smoking cessation and more!

Meditation and Yoga: Learn to use meditation in your daily life for relaxation and staying in tune with yourself.

Nutrition counseling: Learn to evaluate your food intake, how to shop for heart healthy foods, and eat right to lose weight and/or manage your health condition.

Support groups: Stay in touch with others who are experiencing similar issues and problems. Support groups include programs for new moms and people recovering from heart surgery, living with diabetes, MS, fibromyalgia, food allergies, organ transplant, cancer and more.

Arthritis Tai-Chi: Master the slow and graceful movements of this Chinese martial art and you will see marked improvement in your circulation, blood pressure, flexibility and spiritual state.

Yoga: Explore Yoga and bring together your body and mind through physical and mental exercises that help strengthen muscles, increase flexibility, and relax and calm the soul.

Pilates: Develop long, lean and strong muscles by focusing on the core postural muscles that help to keep the body balanced. Pilates exercises teach awareness of breath and alignment of the spine, and strengthens the deep torso muscles.

Wellness library: Gather additional information about working your mind and body. Information such as brochures, pamphlets, videos, and Internet access are be available to research and learn more to help you live well and feel good.
