The Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital Emergency Medical Services System (EMSS) has more thirty years of experience as an Illinois Department of Public Health approved Resource Hospital, training emergency medical technicians, paramedics and emergency communications registered nurses (ECRN). As a Resource Hospital we have access to clinical areas at seven Associate Hospitals and 20 EMS provider agencies. Our faculty and staff have the expertise needed to provide the didactic, psychomotor, affective and clinical experiences necessary to produce quality health care providers.
Paramedics
The Good Samaritan Hospital EMSS Paramedic Program is CoAEMSP and CAAHEP nationally accredited and meets or exceeds the requirements of the Illinois Department of Public Health and the U.S. Department of Transportation for EMT-P education and training. Graduates from our program have high success rates in passing both the IDPH and NREMT licensing examinations. The Program is held annually from August through June. Applications are available in February. Affiliation with the College of DuPage (COD) provides our students with college credit, educational tracts and degree possibilities. Counseling and financial aid are also available.
Emergency Medical Technicians
The Good Samaritan Hospital EMS System also supervises the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B) program and other EMS related classes at the College of DuPage. Pass rates at COD surpass nationally published pass rates according to the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.
Emergency Communications Registered Nurses
Together with other EMS Region VIII Resource Hospitals we host Emergency Communications Registered Nurse courses for Region VIII Emergency Department nurses on an annual basis.
