Infusion therapy involves medicines and fluids given through a catheter directly into the bloodstream. Intravenous medication administration or intravenous fluid therapy may be necessary after a hospital stay or as an ongoing treatment of a chronic health condition such as hemophilia, heart disease, pain, or others.
